Backpacking in the snow in the Welsh mountains for my Gold award really challenged me. I'd never seen myself as a very physical or outdoorsy person, but it made me realise that not only could I do that sort of thing - I enjoyed it. I still regularly camp or backpack, and I'm grateful for the DofE legacy.
