Back in July 2011 I achieved my Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award. I attended the award ceremony garden party in Edinburgh and I had the great honour of meeting HRH The Duke of Edinburgh. He was a true inspiration and such a gentleman, who took an intrest in each person that attended on how they achieved the award. I am deeply saddened of his passing. I feel great pride and I am truly grateful for having the opportunity to complete this amazing award whilst i was part of the girl guides. The blisters and tears from the bronze, silver and gold hikes were horrible at the time, but looking back now they were so worth it.
I would recommend to any individual thinking of completing it to do it.
