Duke of Edinburgh was always going to be a massive challenge for me as it was going out of my comfort zone of luxury and warmth. I am incredibly proud to have taken part as it helped me grow as an individual and experience things I once before wouldn’t have done so. My favourite memory was around camp playing games, having a laugh and catching up with other groups.

After completing my bronze award I continued my volunteering and made some life long friends. I also went on to do the Diamond award challenge, setting myself a half a marathon target. I for one am not a runner. It was challenging but extremely rewarding. I raised an astonishing amount for the DofE charity for disadvantaged children.

Thank you Duke for the fantastic experiences I will treasure for the rest of my life. You made my childhood and allowed me to grow into the young adult I am today. R.I.P
