Having achieved my Queen’s Guide award I progressed to work towards my Bronze, Silver and then Gold Awards. As a teenager I greatly benefited from all the DofE scheme had to offer and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

I have particular fond memories of my Acorn Camp at Dunham Massey in Cheshire and my Gold Expedition in the Scottish Highlands.

I was presented my Gold Award by the Duke of Edinburgh at St James’ Palace which was a very memorable day for myself and my parents.

I would encourage any youngster to take part in the scheme if they have the opportunity to do so.
