I had the honour to meet the Duke of Edinburgh on two occasions at St James’s Palace Gold presentations. He always took a genuine interest in the participants Award journeys. However as a former coordinator and currently an expedition assessor I personally have much to thank the Award for. Not only did I meet and spend time with some wonderful young people away from the classroom I got to work with many colleagues with whom I normally had little contact. Some have become life long friends. I don’t think you can under estimate all the Awards impact on so many. Thank you Sir. RIP.
