8 years ago I became the Detachment Commander at Blandford Detachment, Dorset ACF. At that time there was only 2 Cadets registered on the scheme. I became a DofE Leader and encouraged the Cadets, following an introduction to the programme, to get involved. The success of this intro was unbelievable resulting in 35 Cadets enrolling at various levels. To see how they developed, especially with their confidence, was amazing. Their dedication, motivation and enthusiasm for the scheme was an absolute pleasure to see. Although I have recently retired from Dorset ACF, I can honestly say that the DofE scheme has been the most rewarding thing that I have done. To see how the young Cadets have benefited from it says it all. Rest In Peace, you will be missed and thank you Sir.
