I gained my Bronze award in the late 1990s. I loved the expedition and the voluntary service. But my over riding memory is from the physical element. My friend Jody and I decided we’d join a roller hockey team. We couldn’t roller skate or play hockey. Every week we roller skated from my house at the top of a steep hill down to the park where we played, clinging to the neighbours’ walls and mostly on our bums, but laughing out heads off the whole way down. Wonderful happy memories of a bonkers time as teenagers!
