I started DofE having never done any camping and only doing minimum cooking.
I have fond memories of DofE and it’s something we reminisce about nearly 15 years later. I remember a particularly eventful trip to the new forest where we got stuck in a bog with my friend shouting “it’s quicksand”. We had to be picked up in a car.
I started as a volunteer young leader with scouts and I stayed past my DofE silver to become an adult leader. I was with my beaver scout group for 13 years and made so many friends. I learnt so much and met extraordinary people through that role thanks to DofE.
