Katie Forrest
I found every level of DofE so much fun to do.
I learned so many vital skills, without which I could not do the job I now do. I work on the emergency ambulances and I would not be able to talk to patients if it were not for the communication skills I gained through my volunteering and skill sections. Additionally, the physical and expedition sections developed my teamwork skills which I also use daily.
I’ve met so many amazing people throughout DofE. My bronze expeditions and silver practice were done through Whitley Bay Explorer Scouts. My silver assessed was done through an external company, and my gold was completed through my sixth form. Through all these different organisations I’ve met a number of lifelong friends.
DofE has helped me to gain so many skills and allowed me to open so many doors to different opportunities.
I will forever be grateful for the work that HRH Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh did for this award.
