As a former girl guide and scout I think the D of E scheme is great for bringing together young people (and associated adults) from a wider range of backgrounds and cultures. From basic organisational sklls to more complex problem solving people learn really useful stuff. I think this is the best thing the Duke of Edinburgh has done but I really like the way he has been a realiable support to the Queen and has showed his human side by not being overly formal.
