My husband and I met doing our Gold D of E exploration in North Wales. He was Scottish and I am English and we joked that Wales was neutral territory for us.
We started dating and got married a few years later. We both also went out to the USA to study.
We received our awards from the Duke at Holyrood palace in the summer of 1991. The Duke said he’d never presented the award to a married couple before. We have since moved back to the UK. We have five sons, three of which have also participated in the D of E programme. Our youngest two are currently still working their way through the programme.
