As a family we will always remember our son receiving the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award at Holyrood Palace in 2009. Prince Philip was genuinely interested in the achievements of the recipients of the award. We also remember that Her Majesty the Queen watched the proceedings from an upstairs window in the Palace and acknowledged a wave from some award winners. It was such a marvellous culmination of a life changing journey. May the Prince’s wonderful legacy continue to thrive and enrich the lives of so many people around the world.
