I have some amazing memories from completing the award myself at school. I learnt so much during the award and one of those important lessons was about the importance of keeping going even when it was tough! The weather was against you, you had blisters and you had just found out you had been walking the wrong way! But our group persevered and there was such a sense of accomplishment when we finally succeeded.

I have been involved in running the DofE Award at the school where I work for several years now and it is still inspiring to see how each participant learns something different that will hopefully serve them well in their future lives. Each year the students throw themselves into their award and find out something new about themselves.
I remember meeting the Duke for my Gold presentation and he took the time to talk to us about all of our activities. Truly an inspiration of service
