Doing my own DofE Gold on the Isle of Arran (early 1980's) and going to the St James Palace to collect then several years later taking my own group to collect their Gold Awards having been to Morocco for the expedition and residential (2013) - many friends made for life some not now living in the UK - many appreciative parents - my biggest legacy is that of resilience something that is lacking in many of our young people today - DofE teaches independence. and life long skills never to be forgotten - I joined the police force then worked in transport and finally back in schools encouraging students to take part in DofE.
