I met Prince Philip twice in my teenage years while I was in the Girl’s Brigade. The first time in Chichester (my surname was Warren then) he came to visit teenagers doing their Duke of Edinburgh Silver award. A group of us were showing our motor maintenance skills (cleaning spark plugs) when he commented about girls doing motor maintenance. ??
The second time I met him was when I was awarded my Gold award (top right of the photo of my arm band) at Buckingham Palace (approx. 1970/71 can’t remember the exact date) in the ballroom, I didn’t get to talk to him personally as there were a lot of teenagers there. I am very proud of it. I’m on the right of the B&W photo, my Mum & Dad are on the left. My Dad looks very proud as well. R.I.P HRH the Duke of Edinburgh.
