Although I only completed the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award it was a very memorable experience as it was the very first time I ever went camping overnight! Who knew that many years later I would be living in Idaho and camping frequently with my family in the midst of black bears! I am very thankful for the experience that DofE gave me and the first taste of that kind of adventure! I never thought of myself as a camping type of person but have come to deeply enjoy the respite and peace that being among the pine trees gives that nothing else in this world seems to be able to do in the depths of my heart.
