I am incredibly thankful for the opportunity to take part in the award scheme. At school I was a shy person with not much confidence and didn't feel that I had much of a skill set.
Taking part in the award scheme gave me many new skills and interests, and improved my confidence in life and my abilities.
The expeditions were perhaps the most demanding part of the award and at all levels the group I was a part of faced different challenges and experiences that we had to overcome and figure out. All of which helped develop character and helped me grow in the discipline of perceiverance and the importance of seeing things through to the end - a discipline that has stayed with me throughout my life.
I really enjoyed taking part in the award, especially learning to play the piano and squash - a sport that I've continued to play, and volunteering in a nursing home. I'm privileged to have had the opportunity to take part, now having many stories to tell and experiences to remember, for which I'm incredibly grateful.
