Joanne OBrien
I have been fortunate to have been part of the Duke of Edinburgh programme for 15years at Whalley Range 11-18 High School. We started off many years ago taking out small groups of students (20) where I was a volunteer. This inspired us to then progress this further and we now take out the full year 10 cohort. I now lead this programme as one of the managers which is a great feeling!
We teach DofE as part of the year 10 curriculum and really up skill the students in a variety of ways. It is a fantastic programme that I have been thrilled to have been apart of.
I am now trained as an assessor and have also achieved my lowland leaders award!
Its a brilliant programme for students and any adults to be involved with. It teaches so many lifelong skills and it has been a pleasure to lead this programme in my school for so many years!!
Thank you Prince Philip for your inspiration and resilience! May you rest in peace!
