25 Years ago I was asked to help staff a DofE expedition to Wales. I was a PE teacher and told I didn't need to do anything just drive the minibus and read a book. Four days later after numerous mountain days I was hooked. I went on to become a DofE leader and now work for the Charity. I was fortunate to have met Prince Philip a number of times at Gold presentations. He related to the young people, the parents and the staff with such interest and good humour and course he told me off for not completing my DofE! Sadly I never had the opportunity. However it has not stopped the Award changing my life. From the young people I have worked with, the lifelong friends I have made and the amazing experiences I've had and are still to come. It has enriched my life and I will be forever grateful.
