I did my Bronze, Silver and Gold DofE Awards. They challenged me to have a skill, playing the flute, so something physical which was horse riding or playing netball and volunteering I became a leader in girlguiding, the expeditions taugh me all about the outdoors, I found I could map read and understood it well. I learnt sheep will steal your sandwiches, it you walk downhill you will always end up walking uphill longer, I learnt about it you find sheep on their backs to turn them over and be very careful of deep mud ( having got stuck in some!)
Today I help with expedition training for an independent centre and I am currently the DofE Award advisor for Surrey West in Girlguiding. I have really enjoyed the adventures DofE has taken me on and hope for many more. This made me look for my awards and I am sad to say I have lost my silver and bronze badges but found my Gold.

I happily encourage people to get out and do their DofE at whichever level they choose. I still wish I could do a horse riding expedition.
