Jayne Howle

I completed my Gold award as a Ranger Guide. I learned new skills and the expedition was a real challenge but one I will never forget. I still have those close friendships with my fellow walkers despite living in different parts of the country and us all nearing retirement age.
I taught an Asian lady English which gave me an insight into a different culture as well as a feeling of community.
I developed leadership skills and now lead volunteers across Birmingham as the County Commissioner for Girlguiding Birmingham.
I met the Duke of Edinburgh several times and he was an inspiration. His award scheme has changed lives and will continue to so so. I will continue to promote the scheme and all its benefits.
