Jayne Elliot

I was 16 when I started my bronze. I had spent my childhood with a disability and had attended a special school. I was starting to discover life as a non disabled person. I was amazed how easy it was to think and learn. I enjoyed every aspect of the award and moved onto Silver. As part of my silver award I volunteered in an NHS run institution for adults with Learning Disabilities. Twelve months later I applied for a Job at the same place and got it. I continued working with adults with learning disabilities for 35 years until I retired early and was elected as a local councillor. My working career and motivation all started with the DofE. Thank You.
