Janette Wilson-Vinter
As part of the scheme I had to choose a 'Service'. I chose the Fire Service and loved every minute of it. This shaped my career later in life.
At the age of 37 I joined the Retained Fire and Rescue Service and 3 years later I became a member of the wholetime service in Hertfordshire. I served operationally saving lives, protecting lives and educating lives.
There was never a day go by that I wasn't proud to wear my uniform. The feeling of reward from my work was second to none. So, Sir, a very big thank you for opening my eyes to a career that I would never of dreamt of doing....and one that I wasn't able to do early in my life as females weren't allowed.
Thank you for your tireless commitment and a lifetime of service to your wife, our Queen and our Country.
May you rest in peace Your Royal Highness, your job is done. Goodnight and Godbless Sir.
