Working with the WVS was the start of my volunteering and led to me taking city centre children youth hosteling in the Peak District, running a mother and toddler group, being secretary of a scout group for 30+ years, being an active member of a community association and now secretary of a large WI. Such a great start in life helping people in a variety of ways. Wish I had carried on with the gold award but was away at teacher training college. Would recommend anyone to take part.
