I originally became involved in the DofE when I took on the role of DofE Manager in the school I worked at. Supporting the young people through their awards was an inspiring experience and I watched with pride as their confidence grew and their personalities shone through. I have many happy memories of that time and am so pleased I became involved as it has changed my life as well! In my capacity as a member of staff at the Charity, I am so proud to be able to say that I had the privilege of meeting the Duke on a number of occasions at our Gold Award Presentations. My lasting memory of him will be his ability to lighten the mood in a room of very nervous young people and their guests. He would always make everyone feel relaxed and would be sure to listen to all those who spoke. It has been, and continues to be an honour to ensure that the Duke's legacy continues.
