Participating in †his DofE programme has helped built me as a character, developing my social, mental, physical and even culinary skills! DofE has really transformed me as a person, opening up many more perception to what life is about; having to do something so out of my comfort zone like this award has made me much more pro-active and sociable- this is the reason I am deciding to also do Silver award to relive all these stages and experience all over again!
When creating a group and deciding our sleeping buddies, I met a diverse group of people, and talked for hours while we were making our way to the campsite. It was for sure one of the best memories I've made, having non-stop conversations, playing eye-spy games and making jokes.
With our tents also blown away due to my loose and out of place pegs and our misunderstanding of our mapping skills, DofE has also been a challenge. While overcoming this, it was also a laugh when we got lost on our way there, as we figured out we were a mile off the path we were meant to go, and only had locals and our own mapping skills to figure it out. The most alleviating moment was when we saw our teacher/leader running towards us as we were backtracking. Quick tip: make sure you're holding your compass the right way otherwise it will lead you to the opposite direction!
Overall, This DofE programme has not only made so many memories that has helped relieved me of my academic life, but has also helped me realise the amount of things we could all do as a good samaritan to help our community even through little acts we make. I want to thank Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh, for introducing this amazing award scheme as well as the love, humour and support you have shown immensely to everyone in this world. This place wouldn't have been the best without you!!!
