Completed my Gold Award around 40 years ago now. Attending the awards ceremony at Holyrood Palace and meeting His Royal Highness was an honour I will never forget. I completed mine through the Girls’ Brigade and will forever be grateful to our leader, Miss Anderson, who encouraged me to pursue it. Such an amazing experience, learning new skills, a sense of duty in volunteering and pushing yourself out of your comfort zone in the Expedition. God bless the Duke of Edinburgh and God save Her Majesty and comfort her today.
