My Duke of Edinburgh’s Award journey started at school and finished as a member of the Army Reserve in the gardens of Holyrood Palace receiving my Gold Award from His Royal Highness. He was down to earth and spent time talking to every recipient. His service to the Queen, the country and especially its young people is incomparable. His Award helps develop strength of character, perseverance and a concept of service to others. The development of these traits is a reward in itself. The Duke of Edinburgh has impacted so many lives through his Award scheme. He will be greatly missed.
