I successfully completed my Bronze Duke of Edinburgh in 2019 when I was 14 not long before turning 15. Doing the Duke of Edinburgh gave me the push I needed to start volunteering within sports, at the time it I was struggling and sports became my life line but doing the award gave me more confidence and the reason I needed to do it. The expeditions was great as well My closest friend and I became even closer and there was healthy competition between the two Army cadet groups and My group the Sea cadets who as a side note came first with the Army cadet groups a good hour or so behind. I have also added it to my CV and filled in the form for starting my silver award. Without the Duke of Edinburgh setting up this award all those years ago I would not have had the opportunity to do half the things I have been able to do.
