Duke of Edinburgh was the most incredible experience for me. I loved feeling part of a much bigger picture.
I volunteered in my local community, practised new skills and set myself physical activities, none of which I would have accessed without DofE and all of which gave me the opportunity to meet new and interesting people.
Expeditions were stand-out to me. Getting to visit new areas, getting to know new members of staff in school and spending time with my year group in a different environment was truly life-changing. My funniest memory was a friend falling in a very deep pile of mud and having to pull her out!
It had such an impact on me that in my first teaching post I introduced the scheme in my second year, we now run all 3 awards with 100s of students each year taking part.
The legacy that has been created is outstanding and the memories life-long. Thank you is probably not enough but I will be forever grateful to the scheme.
