With thanks to HRH The Duke of Edinburgh. Your vision provided a passport for many young people to access valuable learning, fun, and adventure. I learned and experienced so much. Looking back I now realise how valuable the DofE Award Scheme is for young people to learn life skills in a safe and supportive environment.
As a quiet and shy teenager the DofE helped with me resilience, self-drive, determination, community action, friendship and leadership.
At my first job interview in 1990 we talked mostly about the DofE, my experiences and adventures there.
I did get the job! :-)
