Through DofE I've learnt to connect with people who have a range of needs and communicate with those who are nonverbal. I have run awareness campaigns to support research organisations and families of those with a disability- both visible and invisible. I have become more confident and realised that it's okay to have interests that no one else around you has, like particle physics and quantum mechanics. I would like to thank the Duke of Edinburgh for his efforts and commitments in setting up the scheme and running in for so many years. His legacy will live on in those who complete the DofE and I know that when I do my Gold Award next year I will be thinking of him and his family every step of the way.
