As I am blind, having completed both Bronze and Silver awards, I feel the Duke of Edinburgh's award has helped me to achieve things that I may never have got around to attempting and completing. I particularly enjoyed learning to sail, getting the RYA Levels 1 and 2, raising money for my local hospice charity, swimming and cycling. I feel that achieving the awards has helped me to become more resilient, face challenges and that effort and hard work will be recognised, especially on the expeditions which were hard but I loved. During the last years lockdown, having the Duke of Edinburgh's award to focus on really helped me with my mental health and having something positive to focus on other than Covid 19 or schoolwork.
