I received my Gold Award from The Duke at Holyrood Palace, Edinburgh, in June 1965. I thoroughly enjoyed all three levels, with the Gold expedition (5 days and 4 nights across the Cairngorm Mountains in Scotland) the highlight. My sponsor was Boroughmuir Senior Secondary School in Edinburgh, and in particular, the woodwork and metalwork teachers who gave many hours of their own time to train, advise and encourage us. When seeking employment after leaving school, I always mentioned my Gold Award achievement (along with my Queen's Scout). Both achievements always impressed the interviewers. I have a question: could someone explain the DofE Award logo to me please? Are they swords, or are they facing Ps (for Prince Philip)?
