I didn’t start my awards till I was 18, and although I struggled a lot with the expeditions, my friends gave me the determination to keep on going taking me to achieve all three levels. The garden party at Buckingham Palace twenty years ago won’t be forgotten!

Having achieved all three levels I went on to volunteer with the awards a few years later and showing others it can be done, even if it’s not easy.. Through my volunteering I attended St James palace to give out awards and met Prince Philip himself - he asked me where I was from, when I said ‘The Wirral’, he said exactly where, The Wirral is a very big place.
