Having been an award holder, a proud parent at an award ceremony and an award leader I know from first hand the enormous impact that the award has on the character of young people. To see young people blossom and develop during the many challenges within the award is impossible to catalogue. We can all recount many tales of our adventures during those expeditions and many have discovered a depth of character previously hidden whilst working in the other sections of the award.
The scheme is a reflection of a great man and will be a long lasting legacy for many generations to come.

The smell of those wet walking boots and socks in a tent at the end of a long day hiking will forever evoke happy memories!
