I grew up in Hopeman and while in Secondary School at Elgin Academy, I achieved the Bronze (1964), Silver (1965) and Gold (1967) Awards.
As HRH The Duke of Edinburgh presented me with my Gold Award in the Great Hall, Edinburgh Castle, he asked me where I was from and I replied, "Hopeman......a mile or so from Gordonstoun School."
HRH exclaimed, "Oh YES! I know Hopeman very, very well!"
I was 17 years old at the time. I am now 71! I feel very privileged to have met HRH The Duke of Edinburgh. Happy Days and Happy Memories!
