This memory me and my friends have a laugh about every now and then. It was past 9pm and everyone was having dinner, we were having curry and rice. Delicious right? Yes, it was meant to be delicious but not all went to plan. We started cooking the rice and were eagerly waiting to enjoy the hot meal. We took out the rice thinking it was done and poured in the hot curry. Yum! That's what we were all thinking until we tasted the undercooked rice. We panicked as we were running out of gas and some of the rice fell on the grass so we decided to cover it up with the grass. Whoops! We were devastated but as a team we over came that and had curry and bourbon biscuits for dinner. That not's all though. After we had all cosied up in our sleeping bags our instructor stumbles upon our well hidden rice and tells us to come out and pick up the rice from the grass. No-one got up. The other half of our team went silent, pretending to be asleep. Looks like it had to be one of us, me Kimaya or Saanchi. I was definitely not going to be the one to have to get up and pick rice of the ground. Me and my friends in the tent started saying all these reasons why it should not be us. In the end, my friend Saanchi had to go and pick it up. I felt bad but I was not going out there in the cold. This is what I loved about DofE, the small disasters and funny bits. All this brings everyone together and I am grateful for Prince Philip to have introduced this. I think me and my teammates have done him proud on our part.
