Dawn Rushen

The expeditions - in the days of the canvas tents and cagoules that didn't breathe - we ditched the (heavy) soap bar on day 1, camped by tarns in the Lakes, washed in waterfalls, argued when the map reading went wrong, nearly lost boots in Kinder Scout, and learned to deal with problems as the young adults we were (although not always - there's only so much you can do when people 'lose' tent poles). It set me up for a love of travel and adventure. My thanks for the enduring patience of the teachers who continue to give up their time to support young people on these extra-curricular activities that last well into adulthood.
