David Clarke

I started Bronze DofE back in 1996 at Bottisham Village College in Cambridge. I went on to complete the Gold Award at Sixth Form in 2000. The experience genuinely helped to shape the person I am today. Quite a few years later I am still involved in the Award Scheme having moved into teaching, working first as a DofE volunteer and then DofE leader at two Cambridgeshire Village Colleges. I am now a Deputy Principal who greatly values all that the DofE Award promotes and have seen 1000s of young people (including myself) benefit from it. I still regularly get my walking boots muddy (in the UK and beyond) and I have the Duke to thank for this!
In the 1950s, this idea was revolutionary and many years on the Award Scheme remains hugely relevant and popular. What a fantastic legacy for such an influential man.
Thank you Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
