The highlight to sum up my entire 5 year DofE experience was my final DofE Gold expedition, for which I canoed in a group of 6 close schoolmates, 2 per boat. Picture the scene, we were all in high spirits, the temperature soaring and the sun reflecting off the River Wye. We glided the final 45km downstream, reaching the campsite just in time to listen to the World Cup England game on a small analogue radio, then watch the sun set over the Welsh hills. It was a fitting end to an outstanding award and expedition, one that shaped me as a person; that I shall never forget.
