Daniel Clements
My DofE journey began when I was at school, however being Deaf meant additional challenges and barriers when it comes to communication and feeling inclusive.
Fortunately attending a Deaf school meant the DofE group was designed around the needs of Deaf participants.
My favourite memories from both my Bronze and Gold award is: climbing mount Snowdon, hiking through a field of bulls, canoeing (expedition) down the river Thames and of course doing a tall ship sailing residential.
After completed, I was itching to keep the passion alive. Working for one of the oldest Deaf charities in the UK gave me a drive to keep not only the DofE spirit alive but also to keep promoting accessibility. Now I’m proud to have a team of leaders, a Bronze and Silver group where accessibility is key. My dream is to ensure Deaf young people are included and too can achieve what the late Duke set out himself.
