Claire Pogue

Perseverance, resilience, determination and self reliance all honed on my dofe journey.
the massive relief and achievement in completing our Gold expedition in terrible conditions in the Durham Dales. Assessors who pushed us to our limits with a challenging route. A strained achilles making every step through the peat bogs agony. the team who supported one another. encouraging each other, huddling together for warmth. the tears of joy and relief when the final checkpoint was in sight through the fog.

Then going on to be asst leader for a school group - the laughs and giggles on their first camps. the dismay at learning they may have to wee in the wild! the songs they were merrily singing as they forgot about map reading and veered off route. the main leader leaving the minibus handbrake off(!!!!). the pride when they "got" a new skill or achieved part of their award.

Taking my gran to the Palace for my gold award.
Now with my gold badge proudly worn on my asst cub leader uniform hoping to inspire others in the future.
