Attended Kings Park Secondary School, Glasgow. Name was Bryce then. Received Gold Award at Holyrood Palace May/June 1969. There were about 20 pupils. We hired the Straw boaters. It was mini skirt era which I was not “allowed”but I rolled the waist band up so I could look like other pupils. After I got such a row from my mother!!
When I went up to receive my award the Duke of Edinburgh looked down and asked “Is there anybody there”—I am on the small side!!! —see the attached photo.

There was a girl who had left school and was in ordinary clothes who was tall and stunning. So the paper put us together as a comparison. I still have all 3 medals.
I loved doing the DofE Awards.
