Christine Brooke
Both my son's have taken part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme & the eldest has now achieved his Gold Award, needless to say I'm extremely proud of him. He has gained so much experience, both in his interaction with others and in gaining confidence in his own abilities. He has completed the Gold Ten Tors as part of the Award & canoed down the river Wye, learned martial arts & archery and spent time volunteering at a local Animal centre and supervising at a Youth Club. He also served as a Special Constable for a couple of years. My youngest has also gained considerable experience working towards his Silver Award and has also completed the Silver Ten Tors Challenge and has volunteered at a local wildlife centre and also learned archery and Kung Fu. Both the boys have taken part in the Diamond Challenge and raised money for the D of E by running 10k.
As a parent, I feel the D of E Award Scheme has been invaluable in shaping the characters of my sons so that they have become confident and well rounded young men and I'm really proud of them both. I'd like to express my gratitude to the Scheme and especially to the Duke and would thoroughly recommend all young people to sign up for it.
