I am also a Gold award holder and I fondly remember my visit to St James Palace to collect my Award. When Prince Philip arrived in the room his aides kept trying to encourage him to speak to the parents and guests to which he told them quite bluntly that it was the young people who had achieved and warranted his time and not the guests. After a while the aides appeared keen to move him on to another room and he cheerfully told them to push off and he would move on when he was ready. He conversation was so warm and he was so interested in hearing achievements. Such an inspiring individual.
