Won my DoE gold award age 17, now 74 years old, a real achieve all though years age, and remember asking my boss for a day off as I only be working at Commercial Union for a few weeks, my boss asked why and I said I had won the DoE gold award and had to go to Buckingham Palace to receive it, Next the big boss ask to see me, and asked all about it, and said yesterday I could and would still get paid for it. What time I had getting bronze, silver then gold enjoyed every minute of it.

Rest in peace the Duke of Edinburgh.
