My Mum encouraged me to do DofE, considering she achieved her Gold Award, 1996.
I completed Bronze in 2018. This was tough considering we had no idea what it was going to be like. There were lots of arguments, but many happy memories, including walking down the wrong side of a hill and having to go back up and down the correct way!
I completed Silver in 2019. One expedition in torrential rain and the other in a heatwave!
It was a great experience, one which I will cherish forever; one which improved my confidence and one which encouraged me to perservere. HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh will be greatly missed, and the trip to the Palace will not be the same without him.
I am hoping to go on to do Gold in the next couple of years, and I have HRH Prince Philip to thank for that!
