So many memories but one stands out most of all. At Ellesmere College, we started cycling for the Gold Award. We developed our own mountain bikes in 1972-3 to cross the Berwyn Mountains! ( The Americans claim they invented mountain bikes! Er- no!). Some of our group of 4 developed life- long friendships but sadly one died in the Himalayas. The challenges and rules were strict but we loved this. I have many achievements in my yet this one is probably closest to my my heat bar The Queen Scout Award!
