I have great memories of completing my Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards, which enabled me to escape the suburbs of Chessington and to discover the UK countryside.

So much so that I then became a volunteer Award leader, completing my Basic Expedition Leader Award and supporting hundreds of young people as they followed the same pathway.

The Award has given me career opportunities, helping me to stand out from other candidates, and more importantly has granted me friendships which endure to this day.

The Award is and will remain Prince Philip's greatest legacy.
